grand prize winners easter egg hunt

news story

04.05.10

the weather was foggy early saturday morning but the sun was out by the time a large crowd gathered for the 27th annual kshn easter egg hunt in liberty MUNICIPAL park. kids 9 and under scrambled for 5,000 candy-filled plastic eggs plus the more than 90 prize eggs scattered about the large hunt area. then, there were the three grand prize eggs. san jacinto elementary first-grader kamden hathaway was the first grand prize winner in line. given the choice, she picked the big red state farm wagon provided by victor barranco. the next big WINNER was san jacinto pre-k student kaven adams who got a shinny new bike and helmet. the third large prize was also found by a student from san jacinto. that youngster was kindergartner jazmine villegas who rode away with the other red bike and helmet. we had kids from kingwood, humble, crosby, huffman plus a large contingent from liberty, dayton, hardin, hull, devers and west hardin. a few were here from baytown, beaumont and other areas of the golden triangle. we had great help from the troop 64 boy scouts of dayton and their leaders. a tip of the hat to jerry vennegas – city of liberty park manager – and his staff who helped us get the beautiful park ready for this special event. of course, none of this would be possible without our wonderful sponsors who pick up the cost for this now 27-year-old easter egg hunt.
