easter egg hunt news story 03.29.10 this SATURDAY kshn will have our 27th annual easter egg hunt in liberty MUNICIPAL park. this free event is for kids 9 years old and under. there will be 5,000 plastic easter eggs with candy inside scattered about the big hunt area in liberty city park. among those eggs will be 90-plus prize eggs, and the kids who find those specially marked eggs can claim their gift there at the park this saturday. there also will be three grand prize eggs. two will be for new bicycles and safety helmets, and the third grand prize will be for an extra nice state farm insurance wooden wagon from victor baranco – local state farm agent. the kshn radio easter egg hunt has been drawing thousands to city park for 27 years now, and we invite you to bring your children or grandchildren to this free event. it is all made possible by some wonderful local sponsors. as usual, boy scouts from dayton will serve as hunt marshals along with family and staff of kshn radio. the city of liberty park STAFF gets the big hunt area ready, and it is a lot of fun for all of us. remember, only children 9 years old and under can PARTICIPATE, but everyone is welcome to come and watch. the start signal for our 27th annual easter egg hunt is at 10 a.m. this SATURDAY at liberty MUNICIPAL park, but we RECOMMEND an earlier arrival. weekend recap news story 03.29.10 it was late last friday afternoon when kshn first reported liberty county sheriff’s department was called out to what was described as a possible kidnapping of a child removed from a dayton isd school bus on fm 1409 near county road 201. on saturday, chief deputy jim cooper said an investigation CONFIRMED the man who took the child from the school bus is the boy’s father – 57-year-old bobby davis. in addition to taking the first-grader off that DAYTON isd bus, mr. davis also took his 2-year-old child from another LOCATION and is believed to have fled texas for the state of georgia. chief deputy cooper said it appears bobby davis became the subject of a children’s protective services investigation and that his actions of taking his children were his reaction to that. an arrest warrant has been issued for bobby davis, 57, for aggravated assault of a public servant in connection with an alleged attack on the dayton school bus driver when taking the first-grader off the bus at the child’s bus stop. Neither the dayton school bus driver nor the on-board monitor were injured. anyone with information on the whereabouts of bobby davis is asked to call the liberty county sheriff’s department at 936-336-4500. kshn also reported on saturday that republican candidate for liberty county judge, craig mcnair, has received the endorsement of his former opponent, jay knight, in the g.op. run-off ELECTION for that countywide post. craig mcnair is facing steve STEPHENS in the april 13 republican run-off. jay knight announced he was supporting craig mcnair friday afternoon AT the vara faye daniel PAVILION next to liberty city hall. during the march 2 republican primary race, steve stephens received 2,237 votes FOLLOWED by craig mcnair with 1,604 and then jay knight with 1,515. as the top two vote-getters, mcnair and stephens are now vying for theIR FELLOW republicans’ support FOR THE RIGHT to face democrat nominee ken morrison in the race to become the next liberty county judge. also over the weekend, kshn reported a dayton man was airlifted to memorial hermann hospital following a three-VEHICLE wreck saturday around 10:30 a.m. on highway 321 north of dayton. according to dps trooper corey davis, 77-year-old jessie gaskins was turning off highway 321 near the prison units when his southbound vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck. the impact spun mr. gaskin’s suv around. then, it was struck again by a northbound vehicle. jessie gaskins was taken by air ambulance to memorial hermann HOSPITAL in serious condition. |
