MUSIC TEACHER IN GRADES K-3rd. Mrs. McGuire then continued in 4th-6th grade. SHE
CREDITS LIBERTY HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC TEACHER MRS. HACKETT AS THE MOST influential
for 6 years during Jr. High and High School. SAYING KATHY HACKETT was the one
who helped RUTH realize that Music could be more than an extracurricular class

UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN LIBERTY. healthy lawn news story 08.14.10 the Liberty County AgriLife Extension Service and the Liberty County Master Gardener Association are hosting a free program titled ‘HOW TO KEEP YOUR LAWN HEALTHY IN THE SUMMER MONTHS’. the workshop is this thursday at 6 p.m. in the Liberty County Annex, 2103 Cos Street in Liberty. The evening’s speaker will be Liberty County Master Gardener Vice President Les Worden. once again, this free workshop on maintaining a healthy lawn during the hot summer months here in southeast texas is this thursday in the county annex at the corner of cos and fannin in liberty. hunting and fishing expo news story 06.19.10 here’s something for the hunters and fishermen in the family. THE DAYTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will hold its hunting and fishing expo next SATURDAY, AUGUST 21, AT the new dayton community center. dayton chamber board member anthony hall said they will have exhibitor booths that highlight the hunting and fishing industry. "audio" also participating is the texas parks and wildlife department with their operation game THIEF display. the trinity river national wildlife refuge will be there, too. this is something new for the dayton chamber. tammy pratka said it will take the place of their hometown holiday event HELD in december DURING RECENT YEAS. THE HUNTING AND FISHING EXPO is meant to promote this area, and tammy pratka said that is a good fit for the dayton area. "audio" admission to the outdoor extravaganza is $7 for adults and $3 for children up to 12 years old. pappy’s barbecue will be there selling sandwiches and wraps. again, this dayton chamber of commerce hunting and fishing expo is next saturday at the DAYTON COMMUNITY CENTER, 801 south cleveland. for information or advance tickets, call the dayton chamber at 936-257-2393. sam center donation news story 08.14.10 the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center has received a donation of historic furniture from Donald E. Cessna of Lufkin. the pieces are from the Cessna and Faulk families of the hardin area. among the gifts are a plantation desk and chair dating back to the time period between 1898 and 1910. There is a walnut china cabinet dating from the 1930s plus an oak dining table and chairs, also from the 1930s. according to information from the sam center, The plantation desk was first used in the home of the donor’s grandparents, Adelia Green and Ed T. Cessna of Hardin. the desk also has been used by other Cessna family members, including Donald Cessna and his wife, Mary Jane. Adelia Cessna used it to keep her books for the ranch. The china cabinet and dining set were purchased by Arthur and Jimmy Faulk of Hardin in the 1930s and have been used by other family members up to the present. Arthur Faulk’s parents, Garlan and Mae Faulk, opened a grocery store in Hardin in 1928 that was operated by the Faulk family until the store closed in the early 1950s. Donald Cessna’s mother, Dorothy Faulk Cessna, was the daughter of Garlan and Mae Faulk. The desk and china cabinet are currently on exhibit in the museum of the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center, and the dining table and chairs will be displayed in the Jean and Price Daniel House on the grounds of the Center. Again, these historic pieces of furniture, dating from the late 1890s to 1930s, were a gift from Donald Cessna of Lufkin. The Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center is part of the Archives and Information Services Division of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. the center is located three miles north of Liberty on FM 1011, off of State Highway 146. it’s open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
