panther PEP RALLY news story 08.12.10 liberty panther fans are invited to a citywide pep-rally to meet the panther football team tomorrow evening. this booster club sponsored event begins at 5:30 p.m. on the south steps of the courthouse. lhs booster club vice president madeline bell said liberty’s football players and coaches will be introduced and the school’s cheerleaders, band and drill team will be there leading the cheers. "audio" then, on saturday, the liberty panthers host the diboll lumberjacks in scrimmage conditions at memorial stadium – the freshman and jv teams face off at 10 a.m. with the varsity squads starting around 11 saturday. during that scrimmage, the liberty booster club will hold its annual barbecue luncheon fund raiser. they will be set up saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. selling barbecue SANDWICHEs along with a bag of chips and a drink for $6. so liberty panthers fans, put on your black and gold and support the home team beginning at 5:30 tomorrow evening at a citywide pep-rally and meet the players night on the south side of the courthouse across from first liberty national bank. then, head to memorial stadium saturday morning for the panthers first scrimmage where the booster club will hold its annual barbecue fund raiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. dayton broncos news story 08.11.10 if past success is any indication, the dayton broncos are reloading for another run at a district championship and a berth into the state playoffs. as the football charges of athletic director and head coach jerry stewart look to put the heat on the other seven squads in district 19-4a, he said they are working hard during two-a-day practices to stay hydrated in the hot texas sun. "audio" coach stewart said to help combat the heat, like many other schools, the broncos are kicking off practice early each morning and two-a-days are finishing by noon. "audio" the broncos task master said while its hot now, the team’s goal is to still be playing when the cold winds of december are blowing. "audio" the dayton broncos will host west orange stark this saturday for a game-like, pre-season scrimmage. "audio" besides dayton, district 19-4a consists of barbers hill, crosby, baytown goose creek memorial, baytown lee, galena park, c.e. king and north forest. last year, coach jerry stewart took his charges to the state quarterfinals. they played for the state title in 2008 after reaching the semi-finals in 2007. coach stewart has 123 wins in his 14 seasons as bronco boss, and in those years has never failed to get to the playoffs. he expects this year’s squad to take pride in those past successes and continue that winning tradition. "audio" the broncos are now in their second week of two-a-days as they prep for the upcoming gridiron season. their first test against another school is this saturday when they host west orange stark in scrimmage conditions - the freshman and jv squads hit the field at 5 followed by varsity SCRIMMAGE game at 7 this saturday night in bronco stadium. dayton opens its 10-game schedule at fort bend elkins on august 27. the broncos first home game will be SEPTEMBER 10 versus the ANGLETON wildcats. bobcat football news story 08.12.10 the hull-daisetta bobcats football team has been busy the past two weeks installing a new offense and defense in PREPARATION for the upcoming football season in an all new 1-a district. like other gridiron squads here in liberty county and across the state, hull-daisetta athletic director and head football coach joe allan slack said the bobcats have been starting practice early to beat the texas heat. "audio" coach slack said he is pleased with the team’s progress as bobcat coaches install their new system. "audio" the bobcats boss believes the newly formed five-team district 11-1a, division 1, will better prepare hull-daisetta for the playoffs. "audio" bobcat fans are invited to the squads first scrimmage this saturday morning. "audio" the hull-daisetta booster club will be selling concessions during that four-team scrimmage. all the action gets under way at 9 a.m. this saturday at bobcat stadium.
