news story

05.04.10

kshn reported yesterday that the 2010 preliminary numbers show a 2.35 percent decrease in appraised values countywide. that comes as a surprise to many within the boundaries of the liberty school district who have seen their values increase. alan d. conner, chief appraiser for the liberty county appraisal district, said his office is on a six-YEAR ROTATING schedule for actually VISITING each property in a specific area. this year, the APPRAISERS spent their time seeing each property within liberty isd’s BOUNDARIES.

in addition, the chief appraiser said there was a change this year that impacted values countywide on things like outbuildings.

as a result, the county appraisal district revised its cost schedule, which was 15 years old.

according to alan conner, depreciation can play a large part in the current value of OUTBUILDINGS. he ENCOURAGES property owners to file a protest if they believe the correct depreciation has not been applied.
