blood drive

news story

02.17.10

First United Methodist Church of Liberty is dedicating its Blood Drive next tuesday In Honor of Barbi Varva. as kshn has reported, barbi is donating a Kidney to her co-worker at Liberty County Sheriff DEPARTMENT - Sgt INVESTIGATOR Don Neyland. this act of saving someone’s life is also the goal of blood donors. in fact, the simple act of donating blood has the potential to save three lives, and there is no time like the present. according to dorothy nettles, local coordinator for life share blood center, the federal drug administration has changed rules governing blood donations. she said those changes mean some people who couldn’t give blood in the past are now eligible. regular whole blood donors can safely donate again eight weeks after their last life-saving gift. those with diabetes can now give as long as their diabetes is under control. also, those who have tattoos can now donate blood only three weeks after they got their tattoo. dorothy NETTLES does encourage blood donors to eat something about 45 minutes before donating blood. donors also should drink plenty of liquid throughout the day. just remember – you can help save three lives by donating a pint of blood. again, this special blood drive in honor of barbie varva is next tuesday, february 23rd, from 3 to 7 p.m. at first united methodist church of liberty.
