GENEALOGICAL meeting news story 02.13.10 Members of Liberty County Genealogical Society will travel to Beaumont TOMORROW to visit the Tyrrell Library. Dayton area members will meet in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot at 8:20 a.m. then, they will connect with Liberty area members in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot at 8:30 a.m. The Tyrrell Library in beaumont houses one of the largest genealogical record collections in this area, and members will get a tour of the facility. it was built in 1903 in a modified gothic style as the First Baptist Church, but was purchased in 1923 by Captain W. C. TYRRELL, he donated the building for use as a library. following tuesday’s tour, The remainder of the day will be used for members to work on genealogical research in this newly renovated facility. Members are asked to bring a lunch. the Liberty County Genealogical Society meets the third Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. – normally in the upstairs meeting room of the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center. however, TOMORROW, the group will travel to beaumont to tour and then conduct RESEARCH at the tyrrell library. again, the group will leave from the brookshire brothers on u.s. 90 in dayton at 8:20 and then from the cvs pharmacy on HIGHWAY 90 in liberty at 8:30 a.m. For information, call Bonnie Steed at 936-336-6992 or Linda Jamison at 936-258-9141. |
