VOLUME 27, NO. 168 WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 5, 2012

School Enrollment: Enrollment during the first week of classes at the seven school districts across Liberty County is up 161 students from the same time last year. Three districts are reporting increased enrollment. Those are Dayton, Cleveland and Hardin ISD. The other four districts have fewer students. As of last Friday, enrollment at Liberty ISD was 2,136. Dayton school district reports 5,035 students. Hardin ISD enrollment is 1,281 while Hull-Daisetta has 494 kids signed up. Devers school district has 176 pre-k through eighth grade students. Turning to the north end of Liberty County, Cleveland ISD has 3,582 students registered, and Tarkington reports an enrollment of 1,857. Administrators expect those numbers to rise this week based on the historical trend of increased enrollment following the Labor Day holiday.
