Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed January as School Board Recognition Month to help build awareness of the crucial role elected trustees play in their TEXAS communities. school TRUSTEES voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing school districts. Their actions and decisions affect BOTH the present and future lives of children. IN THE SEVEN SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN LIBERTY COUNTY, THERE ARE 49 unpaid VOLUNTEERS now SERVING AS ELECTED BOARD MEMBERS at LIBERTY isd are president lloyd pierce, june jackson, matt harris, bobby pope, brandon smith. bruce bell and frank davis. In dayton, the SEVEN school board MEMBERS include board president dr. luke chachere, baret stephenson, thomas payne, craig mcnair, bob pickle, jim smesny and larry wadzeck. THE SEVEN hardin isd trustees are president CHARLOTTE warner, cody parrish, jerry usrpung, james ‘bubba’ campbell, frank huff, justin key and kevin ladd. these SEVEN ARE elected to the CLEVELAND isd board - president lloyd lewis, billy ross jr., chris wood, doug higginbotham, danny lee, lierick (leer-rick) reed, and susan adams. serving as THE SEVEN trustees in the tarkington school district are president charlie rice, philip cameron, glen croft, michael JOHNSON, nathan riley, shane gulledge, and ronald shirley. THERE ARE also seven SCHOOL TRUSTEES IN THE HULL-DAISETTA ISD. THEY ARE president INEZ ECHOLS, MARVIN FREGIA, jeanna brett, CHARLES WALKER, vincent espree, david meadows AND joseph espree. FINALLY, IN DEVERS SCHOOL DISTRICT, THE SEVEN TRUSTEES ARE president ROBERT KIrKlAnD, MARK GIVENS, DONNA HEBERT (a-bear), MIKE HUBLEY (Hue-blee) mike SIKORA, tommy mcintosh AND TOMMY MCMULLAN. OF NOTE, TOMMY MCMULLAN IS THE LONGEST SERVING SCHOOL TRUSTEE IN TEXAS history WITH 55 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE FOLKS IN DEVERS ISD. INCIDENTALLY, TOMMY TOOK THE POSITION HELD BY HIS FATHER FOR 27 YEARS. tHAT MEANS THE MCMULLANS HAVE A COMBINED 82 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THEIR COMMUNITY. Even though showing appreciation FOR THE COUNTLESS HOURS THESE 49 ELECTED OFFICIALS DEDICATE TO THE CHILDREN OF LIBERTY COUNTY should be done a year-round, taking advantage of the designated School Board Recognition Month assures that these SPECIAL FOLKS receive some of the thanks they deserve.
