winnie bank robbery news story 02.20.10 two people have been arrested for the FEBRUARY 9 armed ROBBERY of the Texas Coastal Community Federal Credit Union in Winnie. chambers county sheriff joe larive said another woman - who had been arrested based on crime stopper tips and probable CAUSE – was subsequently cleared of any INVOLVEMENT in the bank heist and released from jail. sheriff larive said After news of that woman’s arrest was made public, information was received from Louisiana indicating Lake Charles resident Jennifer Sykes Devillier was actually responsible for the winnie bank crime. Jennifer Devillier was wanted in Louisiana on two counts of armed robbery and was on the run in the Houston area. Information from LOUISIANA also indicated her husband, Edwin Devillier, was the get-away driver in the Winnie case. according to the chambers county SHERIFF, Edwin Devillier had been arrested in Harris County several days after the winnie robbery on two robbery warrants out of Louisiana. so, Chambers County Sheriff’s Investigators and FBI Agents interviewed Edwin Devillier at the Harris County Jail where he allegedly provided specific details of his involvement in the Winnie robbery and implicated his wife as the Winnie robber. following that confession, Warrants were issued for both Devilliers for the hold-up in Winnie. Chambers County Deputies arrested Jennifer Devillier in west Houston TUESDAY. sheriff larive said She also confessed to her involvement in the Winnie crime. at the current time, Jennifer Devillier is being held without bond in the Chambers County jail for the Winnie crime along with the two Louisiana robberies. also, Edwin Devillier is being held without bond in the Harris County jail for the Winnie and two Louisiana robberies. concerning the arrest and release of the other woman, Chambers County Sheriff Joe LaRive said his Office and the FBI acted in good faith in establishing probable cause for her arrest, and that she was immediately released from jail when it was discovered she was not involved. |
