With the easing of some restrictions due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the US Census Bureau has restarted visiting addresses where they have not yet received completed census information. Census Bureau officials point out that the Census personnel will always identify themselves with their US Census Bureau Identification. The census staff member will ask a few questions to determine how many people live in the household, their gender, education level and ages. They will also ask for a phone number, that they can call if more information is needed. They will no ask for any other type of information. If someone tells you they are a Census worker, and does not have proper identification or if you feel uncomfortable, or the census taker asks for information of a personal matter, such as Social Security Number or credit information, then please terminate the conversation, close your door and call the Census Bureau at 1-800-923-8282 to file a report. That number again is 1-800-923-8282. If they become insistent or demanding and won’t leave then it is suggested that you call the police or sheriff’s office. Being a part of the 2020 Census should be a pleasant and simple experience and it certainly is very important for many reason.
