City of Liberty warns of a phone scam

The City of Liberty has provided KSHN with a Public Service Announcement concerning another in a string of phone scams. The City of Liberty has been notified that citizens are receiving telephone calls from individuals claiming to be employees of the city and attempting to sell services or collect money. The City of Liberty does not make phone calls in regards to soliciting or collecting money. The city advises that if you receive a call that you are not sure of, to please remember the following 6 precautions 1. Never give personal information over the phone. 2. DO NOT give in to any high pressure calls. Take the time to check out the threat, Perhaps get a second opinion from a family member or trusted friend. 3. Never call a number back 4. Just say “NO” and hang up. The longer you remain on the phone, the more likely you may give in. 5. Report the incident to the local Police Office by calling 936-336-5666 6. Do not be embarrassed to tell others. Your family or friends may be next. For further questions, you can call City Hall at 936-336-3684.  Remember if you receive this type of phone call, hang up and then call Liberty Police at 936-336-5666 to report the incident.
