Cleveland Interim City Manager

The city of Cleveland in north Liberty County has named an Interim City Manager.  Bobby Pennington, who is the Assistant City Manager and Finance Director, is adding the City Managers duty, on an interim basis, due to the retirement of City Manager Kelly McDonald. Mr. Pennington assumed those duties on Wednesday, September 16th. The decision to appoint Pennington as the interim city manager was made by the Cleveland City Council at the Sept. 15 meeting following a closed executive session. Council then voted unanimously in favor of his appointment. Pennington started his career in city management upon graduation from The University of Houston, Clear Lake and has worked for the cities of Deer Park, Jersey Village and Palestine.  For the past 5 years he has been the Finance Director and Assistant City Manager of Cleveland. There was a retirement party for outgoing City Manager Kelly McDonald was held at the Cleveland Civic Center on Wednesday afternoon, September 16th.
