We reported yesterday that 24-year-old George Reed drowned in Spider pond in North Liberty County trying to save his girlfriend he thought was drowning on Sunday even though he reportedly could not swim. It turns out his girlfriend was not drowning, rather she was doing the backstroke. Texas Game Wardens located his body using side sonar Monday afternoon and Montgomery County divers recovered his body a short time later. We learned yesterday George Reed was from Shephard. We also reported Justice of the Peace for Pct. 6 Ralph Fuller ordered an autopsy. We have now learned it was Justice of the Peace for Pct. 5 Wade Brown that ordered the autopsy. Judge Fuller tells KSHN.com he was in surgery Monday to repair a broken ankle that required pins and screws. We regret that error and wish Judge Ralph Fuller a speedy recovery.
