Dayton FFA Livestock Show

The Dayton FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo is traditionally held in May, however with the COVID 19 pandemic causing a virtual lockdown across the country, those plans had to change. As of now, secure in the knowledge that it could change, the livestock show is set for June 1st through the 3rd, and the auction is set for June 6th. This year’s event will be much different from those held in the past. The rodeo, breeding rabbit and some others are canceled. The how’s and what’s of the remaining animal shows are still being worked out, but the day’s have been set. The chickens and rabbits will be shown June 1, Goats and pigs, on June 2nd, and commercial heifers and steer will be on June 3. Liberty County AgriLife Extension agent Roy Flora said, as of now, organizers are looking at doing a virtual auction on-line. Also during the shows, organizers have discussed showing the animals with no spectators, and only a limited number of people on the grounds of the Anson Rigby Memorial Arena on Highway 321 in Dayton. The other exact details of this years rescheduled Dayton Livestock Show are not yet set. We will update this information as soon as possible.
