Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that Thomas Andrew Daigle, 23, of Dayton, Texas, has been charged with the Capital Murder of Scott Privat. On Thursday March 19, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the home of Scott Privat in the 10000 block of FM 562 in reference to a possible deceased person. Upon arrival deputies discovered Privat deceased with obvious signs of foul play present along with evidence that a crime had occurred.
Detectives with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit, along with the Texas Rangers, responded to the scene to begin investigating the incident as a suspected homicide. Detectives have spent over four months continuously investigating every lead that has been uncovered in reference to this homicide. With the assistance of Crime Stoppers and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Detectives received multiple tips that helped identify a new person of interest. Detectives revisited the crime scene multiple times, went through large amounts of records of evidentiary value, and conducted dozens of interviews. Detectives with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office presented an arrest warrant to Chambers County District Attorney Cheryl Lieck’ office for review. After reviewing the case, it was determined that there was probable cause to issue an Arrest Warrant for Thomas Andrew Daigle for Capital Murder. Today Judge Randy McDonald issued an arrest warrant for Thomas Daigle for Capital Murder with no bond. Shortly after the warrant was issued, Detectives served the arrest warrant on Daigle. “The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate this crime and follow up on any other further leads as they arise. We hope that this arrest will help bring closure to the Privat family as we seek justice for the family in moving forward with this case,” said Sheriff Hawthorne.
