A woman’s body was found Saturday in Chambers County. Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said Saturday afternoon, around 2:30, his department got the call of a possible deceased person being discovered near a drainage ditch in the 1500 block of Hankamer Loop Road. There, Chamber’s County Deputies found a woman’s body. Investigators believed she had been there for an extended period of time. At the time of this report the woman had not been identified but is described as a white or Hispanic adult female, believed to be short in stature and possibly heavy set. Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace David Hatfield held an inquest and ordered an autopsy. The body was taken to the Jefferson County Morgue. This is an ongoing investigation under suspicious circumstances and is being investigated as a homicide.
