On Tuesday of this week a Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop. The deputy observed two male occupants. The driver was identified as Brandon Lee Simmons, age 26. The Liberty County deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle from the driver. A cigarette pack was found in the console and allegedly contained a clear plastic bag with round tablets. Those tablets were identified as Codeine, classified as a controlled substance that requires a prescription. After an investigation Simmons was arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance – said to be a Second Degree Felony. Passenger in the vehicle was not identified. Upon further investigation by the Deputy on sight, that passenger was released. Driver of the vehicle, Brandon Lee Simmons, is lodged in the Liberty County Jail in lieu of $50, 000 dollars bond.
