DUI Claims Dayton Man's Life

A report in the Savannah Now News paper, said Georgia State Patrol Trooper Markus White reported a Dayton graduate, Specialist Gerald Levi Garner, 25 originally from Dayton, died when his vehicle was hit head on Monday night May 18th. The driver of that vehicle, William Frasier, 31, died shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Frasier, who was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup truck, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of East Oglethorpe Highway around 10:30 p.m. when he collided head on with a Chevy Malibu driven by Gerald Garner, who was assigned to Fort Stewart. Garner was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger in the vehicle with him was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center by medical helicopter. The investigation indicated the driver who hit the Dayton man’s vehicle was under the influence.
