Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March, electricity customers in the City of Liberty have not faced power cut off for nonpayment of their bill. That may be about to change. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner says council, at their regular meeting last week, voted to resume electricity cut-offs for nonpayment on June 26th if allowed to by the state. Electric customers will have two ways to pay their back electric bills. They may pay in full or enter into a payment plan. Tom Warner told us the payment plan is just for charges from March through June of this year. Any balance prior to March or after June must be paid in full. Tom Warner says anyone with questions regarding an electric bill should call the city hall at 936-336-3684. Repeating the requirement to begin catching up is on unpaid electric statements is only required now if permitted by the state of Texas.
