Entergy Update

The majority of the folks we serve get their electricity from Entergy, and while our immediate area received very little service interruption, as a result Hurricane Laura,, those in far Southeast Texas and Southwestern Louisiana were greatly affected. Of those in the Entergy Service area there are still some 20,000 customers without power. Originally 291,300 lost electric power in the storm. It was noted that over 10,000 Entergy customers had power restored just overnight in Port Neches, Port Arthur, Groves and the Orange areasAllie Payne, the Senior Communications Specialist for Entergy said much progress has been made to restore power to those that were blasted Hurricane Laura. More than 6000 workers are helping assist Entergy to restore power. The task is difficult as crews have found 1,000 downed power poles, over 200 blown transformers, and about 380,000 feet of downed power lines.  In addition 37 Entergy Texas substations and 63 transmission lines were impacted. Entergy President and CEO Sallie Rainer had high praise for the work accomplished so far in getting the lights back on across the Entergy service area. She thanked Entergy customers for their patience while crews are working.
