Many food handling jobs legally require both training and certification. For instance, for restaurant workers, for those starting their own home based food business, and for cafeteria workers a food handler’s certification course is required. Liberty County AgriLife Agent Alexis Cordova has for years been an instructor in the certification course to hold those jobs. The course for those needing that training and the required certification is held at the AgriLife office in Liberty, Ms. Cordova wanted those who need it to be aware that course is also available online. It’s a two hour certification course and available for most food handlers job – be it a cottage food business owner, student, or food manager who needs to renew or obtain the Food Handler’s Certification that’s good for two years. This 2 hour course is $20. For additional information and to find out when the next scheduled course is call the Extension Office (936) 334-3230 during regular business hours.
