Convenience Store: We reported earlier this week on progress for new Sleep Inn Hotels in both Liberty & Dayton. Today, let’s talk about another new business in Liberty. It’s the Grab and Go Convenience Store to be located at the corner of Highway 90 and South Liberty Oil Field Rd- also known as FM 2684. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner on the Party Line said this new Grab and Go Store already has received drainage approval from WCID #5. The Liberty City Manager went on to say the builder has not yet requested a building permit from the City of Liberty. Location of the new convenience store, across from CVS Pharmacy, in Libertyis an empty lot. Mr. Warner said he expects the developer to apply soon for that building permit.

Traveling Story: Dillon Ewing a Dayton ISD 5th grader at Stephen F. Austin Elementary School has been chosen as one of 10 national finalists in what is called the Lenovo Traveling Storybook contest. Dillon, on a recent KSHN.COM Party Line, said his story had to be about what he thinks schools will look like in the future. If Dillon is judged contest winner a $25,000 grand prize would go to the Dayton ISD for a technology upgrade at SFA Elementary. Dillon Ewing said he thinks future schools will have robots and also a big gym and Virtual Reality glasses that would let you travel anywhere. Listeners can vote for Dillon Ewing’s story by going to and clicking on the Lenovo Traveling Storybook link on our homepage.

Daylight Savings Time: A reminder, Sunday at 2 a.m. marks the return to Daylight Savings Time. That’s when clocks will need to be set forward one hour. Radio-controlled atomic watches and clocks will probably adjust to the time-change automatically. The time should also automatically update on computers and cell-phones. Other clocks and watches will need to be changed manually. So, set clocks ahead one hour before going to bed tomorrow night. Also, experts agree that’s a good time to change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Big Thicket: The Big Thicket National Preserve is hosting their monthly Flash Mob Clean Up set for Saturday, March 21st. . It’s a short volunteer event during which the public can jump in and help the Preserve address on-going litter clean up and maintenance needs. This clean-up starts at 10 am with a short safety briefing and then it will be over with by noon. Volunteers should wear long pants, closed-toe shoes and long-sleeved shirts. Other equipment and safety tools will be provided by park staff. To learn more about the event or to volunteer, please call Megan Urban. She’s Volunteer Program Manager at 409-951-6725.
