Grace Initiative needs volunteers

Here is a wonderful chance to make a big difference in the life of othersWhat is well known as Grace Initiative, the South Liberty County Meals on Wheels program is looking for volunteers who can deliver meals to senior citizens and other who may be homebound. Due to a loss of volunteers, Grace Initiative has had to cut back from a five day a week delivery to 4 day a week delivery schedule the volunteers still deliver meals for five days but on Thursday an extra meal is delivered frozen. Part of the loss of volunteers is of course the pandemic.  Many who are served these free Meals on Wheels are in the at-risk category, as are many of the drivers.  Folks who volunteer will be trained, as well as do ride-alongs, with a more experienced driver.  This way they can learn the ropes of the service from veteran volunteers. Once trained, new volunteers will be assigned a route that best fits their personal schedule. The delivery of meals to these senior citizens and others who may be homebound is often the only person these who need your help will see all day. The help of these volunteers is priceless. If you can help, please call 936-346-7678 and leave a voicemail message. You can also e-mail Lori Williams at drivers@libertymeals.com. The priceless volunteer effort of delivering these meals will be an invaluable part of someones life.
