Hurricane season starts Monday

Well we talk a lot about it, but now Hurricane season starts Monday, June 1st. With the COVID-19 pandemic, many have not been thinking about Hurricane season.

Liberty County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Crista Beasley Adams reminds us that now is the time to put your family’s Hurricane plan together. Begin now to have an emergency kit with Food, Water, Medication, battery-powered or hand-crank radio, first aid kit, and flashlights and batteries among other items. Mrs. Adams says if you plan to stay at home during a hurricane you must have the right amount of food and water. Crista Adams also says if you or family members will need assistance, during a disaster, then now is the time to register with the states 211 system.

This registration must be done new each year so do it now. To do that dial 211 from your cell phone or landline. Hurricane season runs through November.
