Tuesday of this week the Liberty Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce held their 44th annual awards banquet to recognize incoming and outgoing board members, and honor the two special individuals honored as Citizen of the year for both Liberty and Dayton. The Citizen of the Year award is given to persons in the Liberty-Dayton area who unselfishly volunteer their time with a life time of service and kindness to others. Tuesday night, in front of 350 or so people, at the Dayton Community Center, Diane Huddleston was named Liberty Area Citizen of the year, presented by Frank Jordan. He was last year’s honoree. Ms. Huddleston was clearly stunned to be the honoree and said she has received much more than she has given from her work in the community. Earl Randolph, was honored as Dayton Citizen of the year presented by last year’s Dayton recipient, Julie Campbell.
The World War Two Veteran said he has tried to do the best he can for his family and community. Oh, did we mention the Mr. Earl Randolph is 97 years young.Former Harris County Judge Ed Emmett delivered the keynote address on Tuesday night. We will have remarks from him on a later news cast and also we will report on a couple of very special surprise announcements from Tuesday’s big night.
