Bridge City and the Panther boys captured the boys meet title in the annual Cardinal Classic. The ever improving Panther boys brought home the 1st place meet plaque on the strength of their 5 medal finishes. Once again, it was sophomore Patrick Flowers who led Liberty with his third place finish, while junior Angel Ruiz and sophomore Matthew Morin followed Flowers with their 4th and 5th place finish respectively. Junior Rene Romero grabbed a 10th place medal and senior Tomas Gonzalez rounded out the team effort in 13th place. Nine area high schools ran this year at the Bridge City Meet.

On Thursday of this week, the outstanding Liberty Panther cross country team traveled also. Two Lady Panthers medaled in the ladies division at Bridge City. Sophomore Julianne Shivers finished 7th, freshman Holly Thomas also made the top 10 with her 9th place finish. The Panthers have now completed non-district Cross Country action and next week, Thursday October 29th, Liberty heads to Huffman for the 21-4A District Meet. The varsity girls run at 5:30 pm and the boys have a 6:00 pm start. Next Thursday’s district meet determines who advances to the Regional Meet. Again, the district 21-4A cross country meet is at Huffman next Thursday.
