It is with regret that we will be canceling or postponing the Mud Bug Fest. We will be refunding any sponsorship dollars received so far. We are simply following the CDC's recommendation to cancel events of 50 or more people, for the safety of our community. It is our hope to reschedule a similar event. It might just be too late for Mudbugs. It is not our intention to alarm anyone over the COVID-19 virus. A press release from Liberty County Office of Emergency Management came out Thursday stating that there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Liberty County. Also stating, the best way to prevent infection is to take precautions to avoid exposure to this virus. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Stay home when you are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it in the trash. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Updates can be found at: www.dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus www.cdc.gov/coronavirus Here at the Dayton Chamber office, we are practicing hand washing, no handshaking and wiping down of doorknobs and often touched surfaces. The chamber office will keep you posted on any changes in the Chambers's regular scheduled events. But at this point, it is business as normal, with precautions. We ask that you also take precautions and remember to shop local to help support our families during this time. Please let us know if you have questions are need assistants. We are here to help and help you find answers.
