It was a beautiful day for a parade last Saturday and lots of folks showed up to enjoy = just that. 41 classic cars traversed Hwy 90 between Dayton and Liberty and then back again to the Dayton Community Center as the 2nd annual Old Spanish Trail Classic Car parade were held. This year, and incidentally, for the next six years, maybe even longer - if it catches on, veterans were asked to ride in the classic automobiles as they left the Dayton community center, went around the courthouse square in liberty, and then headed back to the community center in Dayton where food trucks, music and still more spectators waited. Veteran’s from WW2 up until today, were afforded the appreciation of the crowd. Two men who served in WW2, Earl Randolph Sr., and L.C. Johnson, both in their late 90’s, were hailed as the hero’s they are, as members of that “Greatest Generation”. Dayton Mayor Carolyn Wadzeck said she was very happy about the turn out and hopes it continues to grow. ….and so do we Mayor, and so do we.
