New COVID-19: On Monday,  Liberty County had  16 new cases. That’s the most new cases reported for a single day in Liberty County. 9 are from North Liberty County, and  7 are from South Liberty County. Of the 16 new cases, 15 patients are being treated at home. One  man age 30-40 from North County is the only one of the 16 new cases admitted to a hospital. Monday’s new COVID-19 cases range in age from 20 to 60. The office of Emergency Management tells us out of the 128 cases of COVID-19 confirmed overall in this county, 63 have recovered. COVID-19 is responsible for 3 deaths.

Electricity Payment Plan:  Since the start of the pandemic in March, electric customers in the City of Liberty have not faced mandatory power cut off for nonpayment of their bill. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner says the council, at their regular meeting last week, voted to resume power cut-offs for nonpayment on June 26th if that is approved by the state. Electric customers will have two ways to pay their back electric bills. They may pay in full, or enter into a six-month payment plan. Mr. Warner told us the payment plan is just for charges from March through June of this year. Any balance prior to March or after June must be paid in full. Tom Warner says anyone with questions regarding an electric bill should call city hall at 936-336-3684
