Reward: There is a $30,000 reward being offered for tips on a Chambers County murder case.  On Thursday, March 19, at around 8:00 a.m. deputies of the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office found Scott Privat, 50 dead in the yard of his home.







Chambers Co. investigators said the victim had been murdered outside his residence at that location. Chambers County Crime Stoppers is offering a $30,000.00 CASH REWARD for information which leads to the arrest and indictment, of those involved in the murder of Scott Privat.  If you have information, call Crimestoppers at 844-860-8477 or the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office at 409-267-2500. Any callers can remain anonymous.


 






















Hand Sanitizer: The Liberty Fire department will have gallon size hand sanitizer FREE! 1 gallon size available today May 7th beginning at 9:00 a.m. till gone. They will be handing out gallon size hand sanitizer at the fire station located at 1912 Lakeland Liberty.  The hand sanitizer was donated to be given away by Indorama Ventures out of Dayton TX.




Smart Meter: Dayton will soon have new smart water meters. Once installed, the water customer will be able to go online and track their water usage. Dayton Mayor Caroline Wadzeck, said the installation of the new residential water meters starts in June. The new smart water meters will not cost water customers any money. LHS Val and Sal: Liberty High School has named its Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the 2020 school year. The Valedictorian is Bailey Chandler, while Salutatorian is Zandrea Carter. Baylee Chandler is headed to Houston Baptist University to play softball and major in Biology.  

Class of 2020 Salutatorian, much honored for her considerable singing talents, is Zandrea Carter. She will attend Texas A & M University. She hopes to begin a journey towards a career as a veterinarian. The class of 2020 left school on March 6th for spring break. Little did the 135 members of the senior class know they were leaving LHS for the final time.





Conservative Ranking: KSHN.com received a news release yesterday from the American Conservative Union Foundation saying the Congressman Dr. Brian Babin had achieved a very high ranking with his congressional votes according to that conservative organization. Babin who is from Woodville, represents congressional district #36 that includes Liberty County. The release also said that in his five years in Congress Babin had voted conservatively 92.38 % of the time.  







Texas Senator John Cornyn is a major player in the US Senate. In Cornyn’s 17 year career in Congress as Texas Senator he has voted conservative enough 88.36% percent of the time to satisfy the American Conservative Union Foundation.       









Obituaries:

Phillip “Phil” Andrew Howard, 78, of Beaumont, Texas, died last Thursday, in Beaumont. He was born in Liberty, graduated from Dayton High School. Visitation is at 10am, Saturday, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home-Dayton. Funeral service follows at Saturday at 11am in the funeral home. A graveside service will follow in French Cemetery in Dayton. **










Donnis Terrence Hunter, Sr. 78, of Batson, Texas died Sunday, May 3, at home. Services are Thursday, May 7 at 10am at Calvary Tabernacle. ************************************************
