Ruptured Gas line closed Main St.





At approximately 2:45PM Tuesday September 29th, The Liberty Fire Department was dispatched to a possible gas leak in the Brookshire Brothers Grocery Store parking lot of the Jefferson Square Shopping Center. The gas leak turned out to be a natural gas line ruptured by a construction company. The company that was working in the area has been identified, by Liberty Fire Chief Brian Hurst, as Loggins Plumbing, thought to be from Lufkin, Texas. Liberty Police also responded and closed off Main Street in the area of the Brookshire Brothers store, . Local gas company, Center Point Energy, responded and was able to crimp off the leaking natural gas line and repair the gas line. Main Street was reopened shortly after 3:30 PM.
