Social Security Scams


Those who are most often of victims of scammers are even more likely to get calls during emergencies. Social Security Administration’s Andy Hardwick said Monday on the KSHN.com party line - if someone calls to say Social Security will not send benefit checks unless you first provide personal information, HANG UP.  These are crooks.  If you are uncertain, call the Social Security office directly TELL THEM ABOUT THE CALL YOU RECEIVED and ask if there is any information needed from you.  


Call the nationwide number at 800-772-1213. Mr. Hardwick said to avoid longer wait times call between 7- 9 am or between 5-7 pm.  You can also visit there website at ssa.gov for information about your Social Security. DO NOT GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE WHO CALLS YOU.
