Today is the last day for Supplemental Security Income or SSI recipients to provide the IRS with information about qualifying children under the age of 17. The IRS needs this information from you to be eligible for an additional economic impact payment. We had reported this earlier but time runs out today. This applies to SSI recipients who did not file a 2018 or 2019 tax return. Each SSI recipient with a qualifying child can get an additional economic impact payment of $500 per child. You can go to our website kshn.com and click the IRS link at the top of our page. If you don’t provide that additional info to the IRS, you will still get your $1200 payment, but you will not get the additional $500 per child. Today is the deadline the only other way to get the additional $500 will be to file a 2020 tax return.
