What’s known as The Rocks at Champion Lake are temporarily closed. In a news release, A spokesperson for the Trinity River National Wildlife refuge says the closure of the levee and spillway is a temporary, but long-term condition in order to conduct repairs. The release says, in addition to the closure, a drawdown of water levels may occur in the immediate future to dry out the construction site. The public is still encouraged to enjoy the area recreation at Champion Lake Day Use Area. However, the area past the maroon gate on the levee is closed to visitors. Again, the levee and spillway, known as the Rocks, at the Champion Lake Day Use Area are closed during repairs. Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge officials still encourages people to enjoy the recreation area at Champion Lake.
