Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on Thursday, August 20, the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an aggravated robbery that occurred at the Dollar Tree Store located at SH 146 in Baytown. Law enforcement reports a male subject entered the store at approximately 8:32 p.m. and roamed the store acting as if he was shopping. At approximately 8:55 p.m., after all other customers had vacated the store, he committed the robbery before fleeing the store to a waiting vehicle.
Surveillance footage captured from nearby businesses show the vehicle arriving in a nearby parking lot at approximately 7:54 p.m. and parked with the lights on until 8:32 p.m. when the male suspect is dropped off at the door. The vehicle is observed to be a black in color 2014 to 2015 Chevrolet Camaro soft top convertible with blue HID Headlights. Additionally, a front and rear plate are attached to the vehicle, but a plate number is unknown.
Dollar Tree management advised that a similar robbery had occurred at the store in La Porte and it was confirmed that the suspect vehicle and method are identical. Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorn said it appears that these suspects are targeting Dollar Tree Stores in the area.
