It was an unusual day Saturday as without spectators, students or animals, the 71st Dayton FFA Livestock show auction was held in the Anson Rigby arena. Award winning Auctioneer Brady Hanson handled the auctioneer duties as more than 100 buyers were in the stands. Also available to bid on animals were folks online with the company Cattle In Motion, who offers sales online. But it was the locals in the stands that brought in the largest prize, the winning bid for the grand champion steer. Shown by Breely Buffamonte, the last three bidders standing were A and H Services and Thrif-Tee Food Centers Cliff Richey. When the gavel dropped it was Mr. Richeys $11,500 bid that won the grand champion steer.
When the gavel fell on the reserve champion steer it was $6500 bid by Lopez Roofing and construction who was also Saturday’s volume buyer. In tomorrows news we will have a full accounting of Saturdays Auction. The 71st Dayton FFA Livestock Show was held Saturday with out spectators or students but community members stepped up to support the work of the youth of the Dayton area.
